Hi,
In FA model in the video guide it shown – add the dimension as a string. In mapping we binded our created asset book – calculated feild with rollforwardtmp.
Then in excel mapping how is BU field binded in FixedAssetgrouptotal ??
1. We add BU dimension field in Asset roll forward in Data model.
2. Then we added asset book table , add BU as calculated filed. we give a relation of Fin dim BU with dimension set.
3. We link Asset book table with Assetrollforward tmp table by using where, and formula.
—– Till this is its’s very clear to me ——–
When we added BU in excel template and our trying to map.
Your BU created field shows under Assetrollforward(totalsbygroup) recold list – but in step 1 we create in assetrollforward and in step 3 we link to tmp not tmp totals by group , then how is it binding and showing data ?
Hi,
I don’t know where exactly the problem lies. Will try to export the sample that I setup and used in this demo and send it to you so that you can have a look. Hope this will help.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hello Ludwig,
Good Morning
Hope you are doing well.
As per the video,
1. We add Fin dimension field in Asset roll forward in Data model.
2. Then we added asset book table , add Fin Dimension as calculated filed. we give a relation of Fin dim with dimension set.
3. We link Asset book table with Assetrollforward tmp table by using where, and formula.
—– Till this is its’s very clear to me ——–
When we added Fin Dimension in excel template and our trying to map.
For the last step that we have to do mapping with AssetRollForwardTotalsByGroup, but I am not getting my field in the AssetRollForwardTotalsBy Group.
Kindly guide me where I doing mistake.
Hi, Please double check the setup and mappings that were done in the electronic report. Most of the time, the mappings are not correct and/or something has been overlooked. Best regards, Ludwig
Hello Ludwig,
Now I am able to do that, the only change now I had done is that I created field in FARollforward Total by group then I am able to bind in the last step.
Thank you for your guidance.
Hi James, I did not try to add the dimension description. Those descriptions are sometimes very long and can cause ‘headache’ how to fit them on a report page. Isn’t the findim ID not sufficient?

Hi, I have not tried that myself but would expect that this can be done basically in the same way as you add the findim values. Best regards, Ludwig

Hi Ludwig
Just wondering if you ever tried to (as noted in previous post) add the Dimension Description.
I am stuck on this and cannot figure out how to.

Hi Ludwig,
In Format Designer, Under Mapping, How did you get “$AssetByCompany: Record list ‘model/AssetRollForward’ group by” ??
I don’t see it for me and hence I cannot map my cell to field.
Thanks,
Samanth

How do financial dimensions appear in AssetRollForwardTotalsByGroup in lines???

Hi, If you want to see the different fin dims in a grouping line then you would need to extend the report and build multiple grouping lines.

No, it’s not like that. I followed all the steps…but in the end, when I link to Excel, there is no Dimension the group lines (
Lines: Record list = @.lines)

I have not tried that but I guess you have to redesign large part of the report. Might actually be faster and easier to use PowerAutomate RPA for that
