Great video, too bad there is no batch run process for this. You will have to set up a task to run the synchronization daily as well…

Do you happen to know if it is possible to synchronize appointments and tasks with Outlook for all users at once in D365 for Finance and Operation? If so – how to set up this?

Hello Natalya, Contacts, Tasks and Appointments are available for synchronization. I have not checked if there have been some changes/approvements with the latest updates/D365FO versions. If things are not synchronized in the way you expect, I think Flow can do the job. Best regards, Ludwig

Hi Ludwig!
I am trying to setup this functionality. We are running a D365FO on-premises v10.0.0 PU24, but I receive a “Could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook client.
The request failed. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.”
I searched if there is any reason for this functionality to work cloud only but there isn’t much documentation on the matter.
Also, by doing “autodiscover” of the Exchange Server, I don’t receive the “https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx” URL, but our Organisation’s, which I know is Exchange 2016 on-premises.
Any feedback or insight is appreciated!
Thank you

Hello Lorenzo, I do not know about the on-premises integration and synchronization as we don’t have a single customer making an on-prem deployment. I would thus recommend that you contact the MS support directly and/or create a new thread in the Dynamics Communit forum. Many thanks and best regards, Ludwig

Hi Ludwig,
I reply to this thread so to make it more visible to other for future references.
I opened a SR to MS and after some months of investigation, here the result:
“It seems that neither cloud hosted nor on-premises D365 are compatible with On premises Exchange.
According to Product Group Team this is not supported for now and there are no plans, at least for now, to remediate this.” (September 2019)
Going a bit more in detail:
D365 tries to send an authenticated request, with an authentication method that Exchange Web Services (EWS) does not support. D365 uses Claims (ADFS) and EWS does not, by design. EWS supports only Basic, NTLM or OAuth.

hello Ludwig, synchronization from AX to outlook is working. but adapting in outlook and synchronise back to AX is not working. Any idea what the reason can be?

Hi, Have you tried starting the sync again from AX? What outlook and AX version do you operate? There can be many reasons why things do not work. Also have a look at the user setup, configuration and user rights. Best regards, Ludwig
